Is the quality of the O-ring stable? Check these production steps! 


O-type sealing rings are widely used in medical equipment, electronic and electrical appliances, automotive industry, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, etc. The sealing performance directly affects the safe operation and service life of the equipment. As a purchaser, what you care about is not only the dimensional accuracy, but also the batch stability, material consistency, and adaptability to different working conditions. I. Material Matching and Mold Precision 

The performance of the O-ring is primarily determined by the selection of the rubber material and the machining accuracy of the mold. 


Rubber material matching: Based on the customer's usage environment (such as the medium it comes into contact with, temperature range, pressure level), select the appropriate rubber material. Medical equipment must use rubber materials that meet biocompatibility standards. The electronics industry needs to pay attention to corrosion resistance and insulation performance. For hydraulic and pneumatic applications, oil resistance and resistance to permanent compression deformation should be prioritized. Mold processing: The molds are manufactured using CNC processing equipment to ensure the accuracy of key dimensions such as inner diameter and wire diameter. Before the new molds are put into production, a trial mold verification will be conducted to confirm that the dimensions are stable and the flash control is good before proceeding with mass production. The accuracy of the molds directly determines the tolerance range of the sealing ring dimensions. 


Edge trimming: After vulcanization, the excess edges are removed through freezing trimming or manual trimming to ensure that the sealing surface is smooth and free of burrs, without affecting assembly and sealing performance. Residual edges can lead to sealing failure or installation difficulties. 


II. Process Inspection and Batch Traceability 

When it comes to bulk purchasing, the biggest concern is the significant differences in size or material among different batches. We maintain stability through the following methods: 


Online sampling inspection: During the production process, products are randomly selected at regular intervals. Using projectors or optical measuring instruments, the key dimensions (inner diameter, wire diameter, roundness) are measured. Any deviations are promptly adjusted by modifying the molds or process parameters. For each batch, a proportionate sample is taken to conduct performance tests such as hardness, tensile strength, and compressive permanent deformation. 


Batch retention and traceability: Samples are retained for each batch of products and the production batch number is marked on them, facilitating subsequent quality traceability. When different batches are shipped, test reports (including key indicators such as size, hardness, tensile strength, etc.) are attached. Before the next batch of production, the appearance and feel of the samples from the previous batch will be compared to ensure there are no significant changes. 


Function verification: For sealing rings used in the medical and electronic industries, we will conduct specific functional tests as per customer requirements (such as chemical resistance, high-temperature aging resistance), to ensure that the material maintains its performance in the expected usage environment.

When purchasing O-ring seals, the following steps are recommended for confirmation: 


Specify the operating conditions: temperature range, type of contact medium, working pressure, and whether specific standards for medical or electronic industries (such as ISO 10993, UL, etc.) need to be met. 


Confirm the dimensional accuracy: Request the size inspection report of the recent batch. Observe the tolerance control level of the inner diameter and wire diameter. If possible, you can use a projector to recheck the sample yourself. 


Sample fitting test: Under actual assembly conditions, test the smoothness of the installation of the sealing ring and the sealing effect after compression to verify whether the size and material of the sealing ring match your usage requirements.
